Business Tips

Delegation is something you have to take advantage of as a business owner or decision maker in any
organization.

Although for some, it is very tempting to do all of the work as one man, which is not a bad idea but
something I’d not recommend because you tend to divide your limited attention on different tasks, and
then ending up drained with a bunch of unfinished tasks on your tab.

In this article, I’ll show you three vital benefits of delegating your work and reasons why you should start delegating your tasks.

(1) You have enough time to focus on priorities

Every business owner understands the importance of priorities and getting them done in the first hours of the day.

As a business owner, you do not want to get caught up in repetitive tasks that only account for less than 10% of your business’ growth.

Instead, you want to focus on things that matter the most to you and the business and account for a larger percentage of the growth of your business.

Therefore, delegating the less important tasks gives you more time to focus on things that take
your business to the next level. For instance, you might have scheduled a meeting with a potential
client that’s supposed to take place in the next 30 minutes and at the same time you need to
respond to a few emails.

Instead of responding to the emails, delegate that to an assistant and prepare for the meeting that will expand your business further.

(2) It clears your mind and helps you make better decisions

Imagine the feeling of not having to do something and instead you spend more time making better and clearer decisions that will determine the success of your business.

It’s not that you don’t want to do it, but as mentioned in the previous point, you save time and energy to do more important things and one of them is decision making.

(3) It reduces your workload

Are you constantly having days where you’re totally stressed out and all you need is a long nap to recharge?

Maybe you have been doing too much when you could allocate your subordinates a part of your workload. Now I didn’t say that to mean that you have to overload you subordinates, not at all.

Delegation will help you evenly distribute your workload and you’ll get it done much quicker. It also helps your subordinates. Trust is built and creativity steadily rises as you solve and work on problems from different point of views.

In conclusion, task delegation is something you need to practice and make sure you’re doing it correctly instead of overloading your subordinates and sitting back in your rocking chair doing nothing. Start
delegating tasks and record the positive changes you notice.
